Over the last 3 years, GKWFA has partnered with the Young Eagles, a group of volunteer pilots who seek to introduce young adults to the joys of flying. The Young Eagles offers short flights to all attendees between the ages of 8 and 17 at events which occur several times throughout the year. The pilots even let participants take the controls during part of the flight, to experience first-hand the joy of piloting the aircraft. GKWFA has established a specific partnership that allows pilots and interested students to be paired up for longer, more in depth flights that bridge the gap between the initial exploratory flights and actual flight training. Combined with simulator training, the real flight experiences will give students a rare opportunity to discover whether they want to pursue a career in flight.
